Dhruva Kumar, affectionately known as Dhruv Ji, embodies the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi in the heart of the United Kingdom. Hailing from Champaran, Bihar, the birthplace of Gandhi’s iconic Satyagraha movement, Dhruv finds unwavering inspiration in the principles of truth, non-violence, and social justice.

Dhruv’s mission is multifaceted, driven by a deep commitment to uplifting the downtrodden. He champions causes ranging from alleviating poverty and empowering women to fostering religious harmony, eradicating untouchability, and promoting environmental sustainability. His vision for a just and equitable society, reminiscent of Gandhi’s ideal “Ram Rajya,” fuels his tireless efforts.

Dhruv’s journey to the UK in 2006 marked the beginning of an impressive academic and professional trajectory. A graduate of Glasgow Caledonian University, he went on to excel in higher education, culminating in a Master of Education degree with a focus on Leadership in Learning and Teaching.

Dhruv wears many hats with utmost dedication. He is a loving husband and father to two children, Varda and Achintya Jaiswal. In the professional sphere, he shines as Head of Curriculum for Marine Engineering at Scotland’s largest Super College, a testament to his leadership skills and expertise in the field.

His exceptional contributions extend beyond the classroom. As a leading educational strategist in Autonomous Shipping, an academician at the University of Strathclyde, and a senior researcher, Dhruv’s impact on the academic landscape is undeniable. He even contributed his expertise to the UK Westminister military warship building enquiry, demonstrating his commitment to public service.

Dhruv’s expertise lies in organisation, governance, and tertiary engineering education and skills. Armed with extensive industry and educational teaching and management experience, he collaborates with regulatory bodies like SQA, Ofqual, and MCA to ensure the quality and integrity of engineering-related programs. It is no small feat that he oversees the education and training of one-third of the UK’s young workforce in the marine engineering sector.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dhruv actively bridges cultural and social divides. He serves as Head Convener for the Ganga UK Chapter, fostering connections between the UK and India. He is set up to lead the Indo-UK Defence forum, promoting understanding and cooperation on critical issues. Additionally, he champions the voice of Scottish lecturers as their rep union leader, demonstrating his dedication to community representation.

Dhruva Kumar embodies the essence of a modern-day Gandhian leader. His unwavering commitment to social justice, combined with his diverse talents and leadership skills, makes him a beacon of hope and a true asset to the Gandhian Peace Society in the UK.
